Nine years into their relationship, Nico and Lina are breaking up — which sends Lina back to the first night they met and how very easy it seemed.

A friend comes to help Lina pack and lets her know Nico's moving on with new projects. That makes her remember when their life was tied to her ambition.

Lina tries to move on but nothing feels quite right and everything takes her back down memory lane.

Lina can't help but think back to moments of revelation, like after Nico's accident, when it became clear he hadn't told her the truth.

An apartment-hunting trek and a postcard that arrives much too late put the spotlight on what Lina had wanted with Nico.

Lina and Nico had a pact about her birthday. Now separated and partying with friends, she longs for their pact to be kept.

Lina gets the chicken pox, which only further isolates her. She remembers the trip back from Nico's father's funeral and his profound sadness.
