Till Death Do I Lie

Since birth, Emily and her twin sister wore lie-detector bracelets. Their mother blindly trusted "scientific parenting." A red light meant a lie. Emily never lied, but her bracelet often flashed red. So, her mother believed she was a habitual liar. Whenever the light turned red, her mother shocked her with electricity. Meanwhile, her sister lied constantly. But her sister's bracelet was always green. So, the mother favored the "honest" sister. On New Year's Eve, Emily felt severe stomach pain. She said she was hurting. But the bracelet flashed red again. Her mother thought she was fake-sick to steal attention. Her mother locked Emily inside her room. Then, her mother took her sister to see fireworks. Emily died alone in despair. Her soul stayed at home. She watched her parents' coldness. She also watched her sister frame her. Later, they found her body. The bracelet was still red. Her mother still thought Emily was faking her death. Finally, her parents confirmed Emily was really dead. They learned the bracelet was broken. They were deeply remorseful, but it was too late.
