The Dragon Picks My Forbidden Beloved

Queen Elara has endured seven years of humiliation from King Aldric, blamed for infertility—though he is secretly sterile. The man who truly commands the royal dragon Veylor is Rowan, Aldric's adult adopted son, who hides behind a black mask as the legendary “Dragon King.” He saves Elara in the cave, then reverts to a meek stepson. She is drawn to the same voice, wounds, and scent, but every time she nears the truth, the king's spymaster plants false evidence—recordings, doubles, forged alibis—convincing her the masked man and Rowan are two different people. She falls for both personas, unaware she is loving the same man. When she becomes pregnant, Veylor bows to Rowan hiding behind her—but everyone, including Rowan, misreads it as submission to the unborn “heir.” Believing the child belongs to the king, Rowan rejects the crown and leaves. Elara uncovers Aldric's permanent infertility and begs the Dragon King to bring Rowan back, never realizing she is pleading with her lover. In Episode 45, Rowan removes his mask. No romantic reunion—only her cold words: “You made me doubt my own memory.” He admits protection became control, and they redraw boundaries of honesty and touch. In Episode 48, they expose the truth in the dragon hall. Veylor bows to their joint choice, not to any crown. They escape with their newborn to a mountain cottage. But the real test has just begun: now that Elara sees the man who loved her in two faces, can she trust the one who made her question her own eyes? And how many maskless mornings will it take for Rowan to prove that every word he speaks from now on needs no second name to hide behind?
