Sword Venerable: From Ashes

Zhao Fei, the Yutian Sword Venerable, single-handedly quelled the entire Cangyuan Rebellion. However, while cleaning up the battlefield, he was sneak-attacked by his subordinates, sustaining severe injuries and losing his memory. By chance, he saved the head of the Liu family and thus became a son-in-law to the Lius through uxorilocal marriage. He worked diligently and without complaint for the Liu family, but after the head of the Liu family passed away, his wife Liu Shasha drove him out of the house. He was even beaten by Liu Shasha’s lover Fang Qing. By a twist of fate, Zhao Fei regained his memory and resolved to find the culprit who had plotted against him. Meanwhile, Huang Tianjiao, the daughter of Yuanzhou’s richest man, was entrusted by her father to find Zhao Fei. She fell in love with him at first sight and vowed to marry no one but him, inviting Zhao Fei to her birthday banquet the next day. At the banquet, he encountered Liu Shasha and Fang Qing, who mocked him. Instead, Zhao Fei exposed them for gifting a fake antique. Enraged, the two falsely accused Zhao Fei of being a thief and incited the crowd to drive him out, only to be thoroughly rebuked by Huang Tianjiao, who arrived just in time. Zhao Fei came face-to-face with Gao Wei, the traitor from years ago. Aware that he had been exposed, Gao Wei, desperate to survive, told Zhao Fei that his mother was still alive. Pretending to compromise, Gao Wei immediately sent men to launch a frantic attack on Zhao Fei, but Zhao Fei killed them all. Zhao Fei learned that three years prior, his parents had been persecuted by the Four Great Families of Yuanzhou and were forced to commit suicide. His only younger sister, Zhao Susu, had gone into hiding to survive and married a scoundrel. When Zhao Fei tried to rebuild his parents’ tomb, he was ridiculed and mocked by the Four Great Families, whom he promptly put in their place.
