Plot
The protagonist, Lin Wei, has been married away for eight years and has never returned to her parents' home for the New Year. On Lunar New Year's Eve, she learns her mother is critically ill and wants to rush back to see her one last time, but she is deceived by her husband and obstructed by her in-laws, all so Lin Wei would stay and continue acting as a live-in maid at their beck and call. Facing a husband who is both closeted and abusive, and in-laws who insult her at will, Lin Wei finally sees the truth and decides to divorce. However, her in-laws hide her child as a threat. Despite being critically ill, Lin Wei refuses to give up. Through her unremitting efforts, she finally succeeds in divorcing, forces her husband to leave with nothing, makes her in-laws reap what they have sown, and eventually returns to her own home, achieving a family reunion.
