Plot
Chen Fan is just days away from marrying his girlfriend, Li Xuanxuan, when she is diagnosed with oral cancer. The surgery costs 1.2 million yuan—a huge sum he can’t afford. Desperate to save her, he borrows money from every friend and relative he knows, and even sells their wedding house. But Li Xuanxuan gets the wrong idea: she thinks Chen Fan is the one who’s sick. Instead of returning the 380,000 yuan betrothal money to help with his "treatment," her mother spends all the money on a strange ritual—"releasing mineral water" into rivers to "earn good karma." Heartbroken and betrayed, Chen Fan throws himself into a national singing competition to rebuild his life. Against all odds, he works hard and wins the championship, gaining fame and a new sense of hope. Meanwhile, Li Xuanxuan, too proud and selfish to ask for help, misses her chance to get the surgery she needs. When she finally learns the truth about Chen Fan’s sacrifice and her own mistake, it’s already too late. Will Chen Fan ever be able to forgive her? Or is her tragic fate a lesson for her cruelty and selfishness?
